Cheesy Toasts with Caramelised Balsamic Onions
Totally addictive ‘cheesy’ toasts bites topped with caramelised balsamic onions. They make a brilliant party snack or canapé - definitely a crowd pleaser.

For the onions 3 red onions sliced into long strips 3 tbsp olive oil 2 tbsp balsamic glaze 1 tsp vegan Worcester sauce Pinch sea salt For the cheese 200 g cashews soaked for 2-3 hrs until soft. 1 tbsp vegan butter 1 tbsp gram flour 100 ml plant based milk 4 tbsp nutritional yeast 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar 1 tsp Dijon mustard 1 tsp garlic powder Squeeze lemon juice Big pinch sea salt Twist black pepper Bread of choice toasted
To make the caramelised onions Add the oil and sliced onion to a small pan and fry slowly on a low heat for 30–40 minutes until caramelised.
Then add the salt and pepper, balsamic glaze and Worcester sauce. Set aside.
To make the cheese topping To make the toasts Slice the toast into small slices.
Top with the cheese mix, pop under the grill until the top browns.
Serve topped with the caramelised onions.
